ENGAGEMENT

Members of the Task Force are personally engaging with representatives from provinces and territories, labour organizations, Indigenous groups, industry, forest dependent communities, academia, and others.

Any interested individual or group can make a formal written submission for consideration by the Task Force at this link:

The deadline for written submissions is March 16, 2026.

The Task Force has asked interested parties to consider the following topics when preparing their submission:

  • How Canada’s forest sector can best meet the aspirations of Canadians
  • Maximizing the forest sector’s contribution to new housing investments
  • Ways to use innovation, digitalization and advanced technologies to increase productivity
  • Optimizing the use of forest fiber
  • Tools to support workers and communities
  • Opportunities for market diversification that can expand access to new markets and strengthen Canada’s position in existing ones

The Government of Canada has prepared a background document that interested parties may wish to review during the development of their submissions. It provides an overview of the state of the sector and identifies challenges and opportunities that it faces.
